Wise words of the former world-famous professional boxer Muhammad Ali. In an era defined by endless war—when he was drafted and was told that he must fight the communists—his reply was, “No Vietnamese ever called me a nigger”. Consequently, Ali was stripped of his title, expelled from boxing and sentenced to five years in prison.

After 3 months of conference calls, fundraising and event planning the first West Coast DREAM Grad was made a reality. We even got Angela Davis to be the Keynote speaker. 250+ Undocumented youth gathered outside SF City Hall for a graduation representing the importance of the DREAM Act. As one of the organizers/speakers for this graduation, I can’t say how happy I was that this was a success. I was moved by the amazing stories that were shared. It is a great reminder that we need to keep fighting. Obama’s deferred action memo won’t solve the mass deportation of our communities and fellow DREAMers that didn’t qualify. We are Undocumented, Unafraid, Unapologetic, Unashamed and ready for the fight that is to come.

Please share widely: Dreamers facing deportation right now need to call 1-855-448-6903 or email EROPublicAdvocate@ice.dhs.gov if you qualify for relief under the deferred action plan. Beginning June 18, individuals may call the USCIS hotline at 1-800-375-5283, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with questions on the process. DO NOT turn yourselves over to ICE yet. DO NOT pay anyone money to get you status in the country. We will be releasing a list of competent immigration attorneys to talk to shortly.
